Maruti Suzuki Brezza has completed 10 years, highlighting its role in shaping India’s compact SUV segment into one of the largest in the passenger vehicle market.
Launched in 2016 as the Vitara Brezza, it arrived when buyers were shifting from hatchbacks to more practical SUV-style vehicles. Its blend of style, practicality, and efficiency helped the compact SUV segment grow rapidly, with the category now accounting for nearly a third of all passenger vehicle sales in India.
Over the decade, the Brezza has evolved through two generations. The first model came with a 1.3-litre diesel engine, praised for its fuel efficiency and reliability.

After the phase-out of diesel engines under BS VI emission norms in 2020, the Brezza switched to a 1.5-litre petrol engine with Smart Hybrid technology, producing 103 hp and 139 Nm of torque, paired with a 5-speed manual or 6-speed automatic gearbox. A factory-fitted CNG variant is also available for buyers focused on running costs.

The Brezza has kept up with modern expectations, offering six airbags, a 360-degree camera, electric sunroof, head-up display, and the SmartPlay Pro+ infotainment system with surround sound, etc. The compact SUV has also earned a four-star adult occupant safety rating from Global NCAP.

In Nepal, the Brezza is offered in 11 variants, with prices ranging from Rs 47.09 lakh for the base LXi trim to Rs 66.29 lakh for the top ZXi+ AT (Dual Tone) variant.
Looking ahead, Maruti Suzuki is preparing a facelift for the Brezza in the Indian market soon.
